# Lore

The Fall of the Empire and the Birth of Conflict

In the 1940s, the Great War ended, resulting in the collapse of the Great Empire of Rusland. Many new states arose from its ruins, including the Republic of Okuniew and the Duchy of Ossowa.

In order to avoid conflicts over areas rich in natural resources, an extraterritorial zone was created in the south of the Duchy of Ossowa and the west of the Republic of Okuniew, where the exploitation of deposits was prohibited. This was intended to bring political stability to the region.

Tensions Rise – Year 2023

The Duchy of Ossowa accused the Republic of Okuniew of illegally mining gold under the pretext of geological research in the Łysa Góra region. They claim to have evidence of this and suspect that the Republic of Okuniew's next target will be the southern part of the extraterritorial zone.

In response, the Duchy of Ossowa announced its intention to send troops to ‘protect’ the deposits and virgin lands.

The Republic of Okuniew denies the accusations and claims that Ossowa's actions are only a pretext to take control of the disputed territories. They have announced that any interference by Ossowa will be treated as an act of aggression.

The Alliance of Nations is attempting to mediate in order to prevent open warfare.

First Clashes and Escalation of the Conflict

In June 2023, the first battles between the armed forces of both countries take place.

The Duchy of Ossowa gains favourable positions for further action, forcing the Okuniew Republic to retreat westward.

Both sides begin to exploit raw materials in the conflict zone – gold, oil and radioactive materials.

Private military companies (PMCs) hired by both countries to secure their interests enter the fray.

\---

Nuclear Attack – Year 2024

A nuclear explosion destroys both sides' forces within a radius of 1,500 metres. Analysis indicates the use of a tactical nuclear weapon with reduced power.

The Republic of Okuniewska and the Duchy of Ossowa accuse each other of using nuclear weapons.

The Alliance of Nations sends an observer to gather evidence of war crimes.

Rescue teams discover more nuclear devices, posing a real threat of further explosions.

An electromagnetic pulse (EMP) has destroyed long-range communications, making it impossible to call for reinforcements.

Fuel and ammunition supplies are hampered, and local commanders must seek alternative sources of supply.

The Duchy of Ossowa continues its offensive! - Year 2024

The Okuniew Republic attempted to recapture the hill but was defeated, allowing the Duchy of Ossowa to conduct artillery fire.

The Okuniew Republic captured a gemstone mine, giving them an economic advantage.

They failed to transport the delegate of the Alliance of Nations, which weakened their international position.

The Ossovians' night attack on the Okuniewian positions on the Długa River ended with a breakthrough of the defences and the capture of a strategic crossing.

In the morning, the armed forces of the Okuniew Republic counterattacked, but failed to recapture the city occupied by the Ossovians.

The Ossowians captured part of the former fortifications of the Okuniew Republic and are preparing for a counteroffensive.

domination of the newly created border zone, which will ultimately determine the territory's affiliation with the Okuniew Republic.

The Ossowians focused their main efforts on offensive and diversionary actions, as well as on maintaining and strengthening their positions in the occupied areas.

The Armed Forces of the Republic of Okuniewska failed to gain an advantage in the area of the border town of Międzygórze.

Once again, they failed to push the Ossowians out of their defensive positions near the bridge crossing on the Długa River.

Thus, the Duchy of Ossowa continues to dominate the north-eastern part of the Extraterritorial Region affected by the war.

During the fighting between the Ossowians and the Okuniewians, the mayor of the settlement of Kamionek renounced his allegiance to the Duchy of Ossowa, hired and enlisted mercenaries from PMC Legion and some mercenaries from PMC BlueWater, and ordered the Armed Forces of the Duchy of Ossów to leave the autonomous region of Kamionek under threat of opening fire in self-defence.

PMC BlueWater, hired by the Republic of Okuniew, attacked the positions of the Duchy of Ossów, thereby violating the pact on the non-involvement of mercenary groups in offensive operations.

Having learned of two incidents related to PMC operations in the combat zone, the Alliance of Nations decided to ban private companies from engaging in the conflict under threat of adding companies that would become militarily involved in the conflict to the list of terrorist organisations and under threat of imposing huge sanctions.

An unexpected revolution – 2025

From the very beginning of the clashes in 2025, the Okuniewians decided to maintain their dominance at all costs on the newly created border strip, which would ultimately determine the territory's affiliation with the Okuniew Republic.

The Ossowians focused their main efforts on offensive and diversionary actions, as well as on maintaining and strengthening their positions in the occupied areas.

‘When two fight, a third profits’ - Year 2025

At the end of 2025, while the Republic of Okuniewska and the Duchy of Ossowa were engrossed in a conflict over the north-eastern and south-eastern territories, a new player appeared!

The few insurgent, guerrilla and terrorist groups operating under the common name of Rembelians decided to withdraw in mid-2025, regroup their forces, rearm and establish a command structure so that, when they were ready, they could strike with many times greater force.

In the second half of 2025, an insurgent group called the Rembelia Syndicate announced its existence, taking over an old but very well-fortified fort in the south-western part of the region.

They plan to continue their offensive to the north and east.

After the settlements of Kamionka and Chemiatycz formed an alliance into one large town, the authorities began to notice a large increase in newcomers who wanted to join the armed group maintaining order in the town, as well as adventurers whose main goal was to profit from the current conflict.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://combat-alert-scorpion.gitbook.io/combat-alert-scorpion-docs/lore-and-factions/lore.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
